The first Hanukkah candle lit at the Menorah

On December 16, the managing director of the Jewish religious community Mr. Alexander Fridkis made the ceremonial lighting of the first candle of Hanukkah at the Menorah Center.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Chief Rabbi of Dnepropetrovsk and the region Mr. Shmuel Kaminezki congratulated everyone with the first day of Hanukkah. He reminded the guests about the importance of the holiday and added that we have Hanukkah during the whole year, because we are in the Menorah, which brings together people of all nationalities and faiths. Shmuel Kaminezki stressed the importance of Charitable Fund “Joint” in the life of Dnepropetrovsk Jewish community and gave the floor to the head of the fund’s regional division Mr. Jonathan Leifer.

Jonathan Leifer greeted all the participants and noted that this year the Menorah had united all Jewish organizations under one roof.

The celebration continued with Yakov Rogovoy’s concert and treats of guests with traditional Hanukkah donuts from the Menorah Grand Palace restaurant complex.

All residents and visitors of the city are welcome to join the celebration of Hanukkah for another 6 days (except Friday, December 19) at the Menorah Center.
