On May 28, the city of Dnepr will host the INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon 2017, the second Dnepr’s international half marathon organized by Run Ukraine. This year, the mass running event will bring together about 2,600 participants and 8,000 spectators. This was announced by the organizers during the presentation, which took place on March 30 at the Menorah Cultural and Business Center.
In comparison with the last year’s Dnepr’s
The INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon 2017 is a running event, which is available for everyone to join. Traditionally, the organizers offer participants four individual distances: 21.975 km, 10 km, 5 km and 2 km for those, who are just starting their jogging carrier.
This year, for the first time the event will include:
– The Family run (2 km);
– The Cup among steelworkers – The Steel Cup (2 km);
– The Cup among representatives of the security bodies – The Security Cup (2 km);
– The University Cup for student teams who run 2 km;
– The relay race (2 km).
Traditionally, a children’s competition will be held for 1000 m, 500 m and 100 m. Finishing, each young participant will receive their own medal.
The main medals for those, who will conquer the distance of 21.975 km, will differ in design. This time, the medals will depict a portrait of Dmitry Yavornytsky, an outstanding historian and ethnographer. Exactly he was the one chosen by the majority of participants voting online. The organizers initiated the creation of a new design of the finishers’ medals, taking into account the history of the city and the images of outstanding people, whose activities have changed Dnepr for the better. In addition to the finishers of the main distance, each participant in the relay race will receive a medal.
To properly prepare for the competition, as of April 1, Run Ukraine, along with the co-organizers of the event, the Beginnings Club Start Dnipro, offer to join the free training sessions during the Open Run Day. The best coaches of the running club will conduct open classes for the residents of the city every Saturday.
