On January 29, the Menorah Center hosted a meeting of human rights activist and public figure, executive partner of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, member of the Batkivshchina faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alyona Ivanovna Shkrum with the youth of Dnepropetrovsk region.
The meeting took place as part of the program of her first working visit to Dnepropetrovsk as a People’s Deputy of Ukraine.
During the meeting, Alyona Ivanovna highlighted projects initiating changes at the central government, the judiciary and mentioned other proposals submitted by Batkivshchina faction. A lot of emphasis was given to the discussion of an unprecedented blocking by officials of the Russian Federation of a decision to free the Ukrainian pilot, People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Nadezhda Savchenko. Special attention was paid to the issue of volunteerism and a much more active position of the youth in social and political life of the country.
