The 7th Congress of the Jews of Ukraine took place at the Menorah Center

The 7th Congress of the Jews of Ukraine took place at the Menorah Center in Dnepropetrovsk today. More than three hundred delegates of the Jewish communities from 23 regions of Ukraine, Kiev, Crimea and Sevastopol as well as from the all-Ukrainian Jewish organizations participated in the congress.

The Congress was presented with a progress report of the Executive Director of the United Jewish Community of Ukraine I. Akselrud, and various delegates addressed the audience with their speeches, in which they identified the most important issues related to the activities of the Jewish communities and organizations of Ukraine.

The elections of the President of the United Jewish Community of Ukraine (UJCU) were held during the course of the Congress.  The delegates were to choose among the three candidates: Alexander P. Weiner (Kherson), Igor V. Kolomoisky (Dnepropetrovsk) and Isaac G. Feffer (Ivano-Frankovsk). As a result of the vote, Igor V. Kolomoisky was re-elected as the President of the United Jewish Community of Ukraine. He thanked the delegates for their confidence and briefly announced plans for further work of UJCU.
